He's Growing Up...

Caden is going to be 7 months tomorrow. It is hard to believe. And last Easter Sunday (1 year ago from tomorrow) was when I felt Caden move for the first time. We were in bed getting ready to go to sleep and all of a sudden I felt Caden move around and it kind of scared me! I hope I never forget those memories. :) Your first baby is so special.
Hopefully I will get a picture tomorrow. We couldn't go to Saskatchewan because our cat, Felix, is very sick. We aren't sure if he'll make it or not... That cat annoys me but I don't want him to die, and Caden loves him (he is the orange cat in previous photos). So Jeff and I are laying low, but that' s OK.

Happy Easter From Jeff- He's going to Kill Me! :)

Doesn't Jeff look like the Easter Bunny?! Just kidding... Jeff is at work and I don't think he'll like this picture but that's OK. :) He has a good sense of humour. Jeff is working until 9:00 and it is almost 8:00 now so I thought I would put some pictures up. Caden is playing on the floor and it is almost his bedtime. I weighed him today and he is almost 18 lbs 9 ounces. I had to leave right after I weighed him because he decided to pee all over Mommy! :) But I am used to that- I have been peed on many times as I am a nurse. I don't know if Tracey remembers but one night I got certain stuff in my hair that I won't mention (poop!) when I was changing someone. Gross, I know! Caden hasn't done that to me yet!
In the first picture I tried Caden's hat on Daddy. We just got back from a walk and Caden was asleep. The second one is Caden in my favourite pj's... They were too small and he couldn't bend his legs so I had to pack them away *sob sob*. I love the little dragons on the feet. Then there's our little turkey under his crib. He is SO busy! And he LOVES books and the laundry basket, so the two together were wonderful for him! And the final two pictures are of Caden eating. I wrote earlier about trying to give him the yolk of an egg but he didn't like that at all. And of course he gets his dinner ALL over him, although he is a great eater. So far the only types of baby food he won't eat are squash and chicken.
Well, I need to go and try and get Caden to bed. We are heading to Saskatchewan tomorrow and I still have to pack. You all have a great Easter, and we should all take time to go back over what Easter is all about. I will talk to you later, and Caden says good night! :)

Will it Last? :)

So last night was a really good night as far as Caden's sleep was concerned. He went to bed at 8:00 and Jeff and I were waiting and waiting for him to get up and want another bottle, but he didn't wake up until 5:15 in the morning! He took a bottle and then went right back to bed until 7:30! I really hope this becomes a habit but we'll see. :)

Caden is eating so well now. Over the weekend he wouldn't eat well, probably b/c of his teething. But yesterday and today he has eaten well. For lunch he had vegetables and beef, beans, carrots, and apples and strawberries for dessert- all baby food of course. I've tried mushing up real bananas and melons and I even tried the yoke of a boiled egg, but he won't go for that texture yet. He has no interest in picking up food on his own. Last night I tried to give him some of what we were having- broccoli, brussel sprouts, and sweet pototoes- but that just made him angry. He is quite strong-willed, that's for sure.

Tarena is coming over this afternoon for lunch and then we'll probably go to Jeff's parents' house for the rest of the day. Jeff works at the library until 9:00 tonight so I might as well find stuff to do. Caden is so much better here/is more relaxed and carefree, but I want him to be better with other people. Right now he is a Momma's boy... :)

Teething...

Well, let's just say that the past few days have been nothing but easy. Caden is teething and he is impossible. Friday night he went to bed at 8:00 and we thought all was well, but at 10:00 he woke up screaming and he would have nothing to do with Daddy. He wanted his Mom, and he would not sleep until 3 am!!! We were giving him some baby Advil and Tylenol but it didn't seem to help at all. Then on Saturday afternoon (after a morning of misery since he woke up at 6:30 regardless of his short sleep during th night) his first tooth finally poked through his gums just a tiny bit and he became less irritable. He didn't eat much at all on Saturday but yesterday he was almost back to his normal self. However, he still wants Mommy all the time with Grammie Jones as a close second. But that's it... And still no tooth- it is just peeking through under his gums. And still no great sleeping- Sunday night he cried from 10:00-11:30 and slept until 5:30 and last night he cried from 9:30-10:00 or so and slept unril 6:30... He was sleeping from 8:30-7:00 so I hope that returns soon!

So I am going to take Caden to his play group today and we'll see how he does. Jeff and I are pretty tired but I know Caden will be back to his old self once he gets his teeth- maybe in a year! Just kidding! :) We were lucky yesterday because Tarena knows someone who has twin boys and she was getting rid of their clothes. They are so cute! We were able to get them and Caden should be set until next winter hopefully. So we are happy about that.

What else is new? On Friday we are going to Saskatchewan to stay with some of Jeff's family. His Aunt hasn't seen Caden yet. Hopefully he won't be grumpy. I guess we'll wait and see. And hopefully he'll do OK in the car. We'll have to stop every few hours for our sanity and his! :) I'll keep you posted...

A Fun Day

Well, today was a fun day. We went to a play group this morning and Caden had fun. He did his ever-so-popular screeching noise when he was playing with balls and he made one baby cry! But all is well! There are some cute pictures of him playing and sucking everything in sight.

We gave Caden his first sippy cup today, or atleast tried to. Caden either chewed it or sucked the bottom. He isn't quite smart enough yet to know how to use it. :) But Mommy and Daddy are very proud none the less!

We went to the pool today too and we were there for 1 hour. It was a lot of fun. The pool there is great for babies, and we even had a hot tub soak (briefly b/c it is really hot and we don't want to overheat Caden) until Daddy cut his knee while in the hot tub and we had to leave. But he's OK. :) And don't mind the bathing suit shots... Yes, I know they aren't the most flattering photos... :)

So right now we are trying to get Caden to go to bed. Bedtime is not my favourite time. Caden wants to be rocked to sleep and he is getting too big to be carried. So we have to let him cry a bit. But every day gets easier...

I also put up a few pictures of Felix (our crazy cat that anyone can have if they want him!) playing in Caden's toys. He stayed in the exersaucer for over 1 hour licking himself!!!

It's 8:40 and Caden is asleep!!! We let him cry a bit but I was in his room and was humming to his CD and that comforted him enough that he could go to sleep. I hope it's a good night. Last night he was up until Jeff and I went to bed and he woke up at 2:00 for a sip of a bottle... We'll see how tonight goes. :)

Look at That Belly!

Well, today I weighed Caden at a Mom's group I went to and he weighs 18 lbs 5.5 ounces! He is getting BIG. Don't you love the picture of his big belly? *grin* I hope it doesn't show anything... If it does I will delete it. Jeff took that picture yesterday and the one of him lying in the tub was taken tonight. Caden LOVES his baths so I bath him every day if I have the time. It depends, though.
Caden is very fussy right now. He doesn't want to go to bed but he doesn't want to play either. He wants Mommy to carry him but Mommy is trying to cook supper and type a quick message here. I am trying to make cabbage rolls for when Jeff gets home from work but they aren't as easy to make as I thought. Especially with a baby who wants you to hold him all the time. He isn't usually like this at night. Oh well... And can you see how well Caden can sit? I put pillows behind him to be safe but he can sit and play for a long time. Tonight he sat for about 30 minutes without falling. He is a big boy- big in the belly too!

He's Doing Better!

Well, Caden just got back from the Dr. with Daddy. He has been seing the Dr. about every 2 weeks since Christmas when he was eating poorly, and now she doesn't need to see him again until 9 months! It was nice that Jeff took him- I was exhausted and needed a nap. Now Jeff is sleeping! Caden got up at 3:30 this morning and then again at 6:00 and he was hard to settle. It must be because he is teething.

Anyway- back to the Dr.! Caden weighed 17 lbs 5 ounces last week. Now he weighs 17 lbs 15 ounces! I think Jeff said he is now in the 50-75th percentile for weight. He was just in the 50th before. So I am happy! The new lactose free formula is obviously working, and I thank God for that. It is stressful when your baby won't eat and is losing weight. I hope he stays good on the formula.

KinderMusik (Caden's music program) wasn't so good today, though. Caden was the ONLY baby who has homework! He is SO SO SO busy while he's there that he doesn't want to do what he is supposed to do. He is too busy looking at the other babies, rolling around and fussing that he doesn't get much out of it. And if he wants something and can't have it (like a paper to put in my booklet that he couldn't destroy) he will SCREAM and cry. But when I tell my family they say: "Well, we know he is yours, that's for sure!"... How nice of them. I guess this is my payback for being an awful child! Caden isn't awful, he's just selfish! *smiles* Bye for now!
